13/50] balcony

It wasn't the fanciest of places, but it was cozy. Santana had moved in only a few weeks before, and from day one Brittany had been bringing things over to spiff it up. In no time the apartment had a lot of Brittany flair mixed in with Santana's.

When Santana left school and moved back to Lima she found the perfect little apartment not far from Brittany's parents. At first Britt's folks hadn't wanted her spending all of her time there, but with Santana's help her grades had been improving. She had never been happier. They had never been happier.

The two were curled up on the small balcony off of the living room. It was cold out and they both were dressed in thick pajamas, hats, and gloves. One big quilt wrapped around them, cocooning them together. Britt had her arms tight around Santana, holding her in her lap. Santana was leaned back against Brittany's chest and they were gazing up at the sky.

"I don't see anything," Santana said impatiently.

"Wait," Brittany whispered against her ear. She felt her girlfriend shiver in her arms and she held Santana tighter, placing a kiss in the crook of her neck.

"Mmm," San mumbled. "You know we could be inside where it's warm gettin' busy."

"But we'll miss the magic."

"We could make our own magic."

Britt felt Santana's hand brush up her thigh and she smiled. "Just wait."

"I don't like waiting." Santana tipped her head back to find Brittany's lips and Britt grinned as she kissed her back.

"Wait? For me?" Brittany whispered into the kiss.

"Yeah," Santana whispered back. "Always."

Brittany looked back up to the sky just in time to see a flame shoot across the sky. "Look! There!"

Santana's head whipped up. "I missed it," she said with a bit of a pout. Another one went off and she jumped. "Oh god! Look look!"

"Isn't it awesome?" Brittany giggled.

"Is it over already?"

"No. The meteor shower goes on all night. See!" She pointed as another fell across the sky. She looked down and watched the awe of Santana's face, and she curled into her. "Meteors are really angels riding on rockets through space, did you know that?"

"No, I didn't. Where are they going?"

"It's a magical night when all the angels get to come closer to earth and look out over the people they love," Brittany explained. "They're allowed to be a little bit closer. They have to ride the rockets because heaven is so far away."

"Hmm," Santana sighed. She burrowed back into Brittany's arms more. "You think they fight over who gets to ride the rockets?"

"No. Angels don't fight. They take turns and let the angels that are really needed go. Like if someone is really sad on Earth, the other angels tell that person's mom she can fly over her to make her feel better."

"You think?"

"I know. The tooth fairy told me in a dream once."

Santana smiled. "It's a great night for angels on rockets," she said. "So clear....I don't think I've ever seen so many stars."

"You're welcome," Britt nodded.

"What? You did that?"

"Uh huh. Before the sun went down, while the angels were still planning the meteor shower, I asked them to put up stars for how many times I love you. I love you times every star in the sky," she said.

Santana sighed and closed her eyes and they both fell silent for awhile. Brittany eventually leaned over her shoulder to see her face.

"You're missing it all."

Santana opened her eyes and looked up into Brittany's before looking up at the sky again. "Make this last forever, Britt," she said softly.

Brittany kissed her neck again. "We will."
